Las mejores melodías que aparecen en el remake de Operación Trueno y el álbum que originó la película
Se dice que para la composición de la banda sonora de Nunca digas nunca jamás se propuso inicialmente a John Barry, pero declinó la oferta prefiriendo trabajar para el Bond «oficial» del mismo año: Octopussy. Los productores Jack Schwartzman y Kevin McClory se dieron cuenta entonces de que no podían utilizar las melodías Bond de Barry sin enfrentarse a sus derechos de autor y pensaron en James Horner como posible compositor.
Parece ser que fue el propio Sean Connery quien tomó la decisión de ir a contracorriente proponiendo la realización de la música al compositor francés Michel Legrand, Óscar a la mejor canción de 1968 por El Secreto de Thomas Crown.
Se pensó en Bonnie Tyler para cantar el tema principal, escrito por Alan y Marilyn Bergman, pero Tyler rechazó la oferta tras oír la canción. Finalmente, sería interpretado por Lani Hall, una antigua estrella de los años 70, mujer del trompetista y cofundador de la productora A&M Records, Herb Alpert.
En la banda sonora de la película se incluyó «Bond Back In Action«, la pieza de música compuesta para la secuencia gunbarrel que Kevin McClory tenía intención de incluir originariamente al principio de la película.
